Review the key ideas
The Informative Essay
An informative essay explains a question without requiring the reader to accept a policy position. Choose a clear focus and organize by meaningful categories or a sequence.
Research & Credible Sources
Turn a broad topic into a question with a manageable place, time, population, and purpose. A question should require inquiry rather than assume its answer.
Problem 1
Answer and explanation
The survey asked 60 volunteers about later library hours, and 45 supported the change. Because participation was voluntary, the results describe respondents rather than every student. A broader survey would require a different sampling plan.
