Questions using practical access
Problem 1
Would identical wording in an eligibility rule establish equal practical access?
Answer and explanation
No. Formal criteria and actual access are different evidence. Examine implementation, information, resources, treatment of comparable applicants, and available remedies. A fair conclusion specifies what the rule establishes and what participation or enforcement records show.
Response criteria
- Explain the relevant institution or economic concept accurately; show correct calculations where needed.
- Connect supplied evidence and stated assumptions to an explained conclusion.
- Compare feasible options and their effects on different people without stereotypes.
- Identify a limitation, tradeoff, uncertainty, or condition that qualifies the conclusion.
