Chapter: World Wars, Revolution & DictatorshipWhat these drills covers
By the end of World War II: Expansion, Global War & Civilian Consequences you should be able to:
- I can explain aggression and responses.
- I can explain a historical connection using relevant evidence and qualify the conclusion.
4 questions, written answer, each with a worked explanation.
Vocabulary used: context, evidence, interpretation, occupation, turning point.
Problem 1
Answer and explanation
Trace each decision and changing options. Aggression was not an automatic consequence of a previous treaty, and affected countries had their own histories. Identify responsibility for particular invasions rather than assigning one motive to entire populations.
Problem 2
Answer and explanation
Explain what changed after a campaign and why it mattered. No single battle describes every front or alone supplied victory. Compare logistics and timing alongside military decisions rather than making a famous event the whole war.
Problem 3
Answer and explanation
Name the responsible institutions, targeted people, date, and evidence. Comparison of civilian harm does not erase distinctions in intent, method, or legal and historical setting. A person’s nationality alone does not establish individual responsibility.
Problem 4
Answer and explanation
Separate the cessation of fighting, formal surrender, and later settlement. Use region-specific dates and institutions. The war’s end changed power but did not resolve every colonial relationship or civilian consequence at once.
