About
A complete set of courses for grades 6 to 12, free to read, with practice you can print — and, for families teaching at home, the records and paperwork that go with it.
What this is
Courses in mathematics, science, English and social studies across grades 6 to 12 — the teaching text, worked examples, practice, drills, quizzes and exams. All of it is free to read, none of it is behind an account, and every lesson is a plain page that works without JavaScript.
Alongside the courses: printable practice for every topic, a library of books, and for homeschooling families a reference on the law in all fifty states and DC with tools for the records they have to keep.
Who it is for
Anyone who needs to learn or practise something at this level. Families teaching at home can run a whole year from it. A student in an ordinary school can read a second explanation of a topic that did not land, or print a set of questions before a test. Neither use is an afterthought, and nothing asks which one you are.
How it is made, and checked
The courses are written rather than assembled from a question bank, and they are checked by a test suite that runs on every build. Those tests are unusually specific on purpose: they assert that lesson text appears in the static HTML so it can be read without scripts, that every figure carries a title and an accessible description, that practice questions are not repeated within a lesson, and that each course's year plan adds up.
Every photograph is public domain or Creative Commons Attribution, listed with its author and licence on the credits page. Diagrams are drawn for these courses. Some science figures come from OpenSciEd's middle-school units under CC BY 4.0, attributed in place.
The state law pages are researched from statute and state agency material, then re-checked by an independent second pass; what that pass could not confirm is printed on the page rather than dropped. The method is described at how we verify, and every record is re-examined each July, when most education laws take effect.
What it is not
- Not a school. There is no enrolment, no teacher on the other end and no accreditation. Nothing here awards credit.
- Not legal advice. The homeschool law pages summarise public law and link the statute so you can read it; your state education agency, not this site, governs what you must file.
- Not finished. Some courses are considerably better than others, and the ones being rewritten are being rewritten because they are not yet good enough.
Corrections
Corrections are genuinely welcome, particularly on the law pages, where a changed statute matters to a real family's filing. How to get in touch.
